Justine Beverley is a bilingual singer-songwriter whose music blends American country with Scottish folk and a touch of French pop. Originally from France, she began her musical journey after spending several years backpacking in Australia and immersing herself in the local folk scene. Shortly after her debut open mic in 2023, she was awarded a slot at the Danny Kyle Open Stage at Celtic Connections, followed by performances at Country2Country and other major Scottish festivals. Influenced by artists such as Gillian Welch, Lainey Wilson, Evan Honer, Sons of the East and Beluga Lagoon, her sound is rooted in the storytelling tradition of country music, with lyrics that explore heartbreak, restless moods and the fragile poetry of everyday life. With a growing repertoire of original songs in both English and French, Justine brings a fresh, cross-cultural voice to the country music scene.

My song “Passenger Seat” 🚘 is almost ready to be released—and what a journey it’s been since I first wrote it in June 2023!! It all started on a long car ride I shared with a colleague, where our conversation drifted into deep, emotionally charged territory that felt far more like a date than a work discussion. I took a chance and made a move, but he pulled away and used his position to reassert his power over me. Writing this song became my way of taking that power back. Not long after, I left my job…

The emotions behind “Passenger Seat” are raw—bitter, angry, and unapologetically bold. It became a kind of revenge anthem. I drew inspiration from classic country songs like “Mean” by @taylorswift, “That Don’t Impress Me Much” by @shaniatwain, and of course “You’re So Vain” by @carlysimonhq, with some nods to tracks from the @nashvilleabc TV series.

@thatandreamusic, my vocal coach at the time, helped me refine the lyrics and truly find my voice as a songwriter—as it was only the second song I’d ever written!! I’m also so grateful to Ross Wood, @gracemurraymusic, @alofskye and @julensantamaria for playing this song with me early on and helping lay the groundwork for what it’s become.

Today I finished recording the backing vocals, and I’m feeling emotional about how far it’s come. @tommyyyphillips—who reached out after seeing my set at @cottiersglasgow when I supported @theedressrehearsal album launch—was the perfect collaborator for this project. He completely understood my vision and was the best teammate I could’ve asked for. I’m also deeply grateful to @adamthommusic and @roogeddes, who recorded the banjo 🪕 and fiddle 🎻 parts that helped bring this song fully to life.

I’m beyond excited to finally bring this baby into the world. I’ve kept so many notes and snippets from its earliest days, and it’s amazing to see how much it has evolved—but here are some highlights from its 2025 chapter. I can’t wait for y’all to hear it 😘💋

I’ve quickly grown obsessed with “Mountain Man” 🏔️ by the most talented @zandiholup, whom I discovered via @juliadigrazia’s account. Spending so much time in the mountains recently really helped me forge a connection with the lyrics—and it was a lovely surprise when she herself posted a cute comment on my TikTok video 🫶

Only a matter of DAYS now until I take the stage at @butefest—catch me on the third stage on Sunday 6pm, can’t wait to share some of my newest originals and good ol’ country covers 🥰💕

Well, this certainly has been an interesting start to 2025’s summer. FANTASTIC? At times. DREADFUL? At times. SPLENDID? Overall, definitely. Most of all, I’m eternally grateful to have found friends like the ones I have. They don’t need to be tagged (they should know who they are). I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE WHAT AUGUST HAS IN STORE. 🤪

Well, at the risk of looking cringe… @evanhoner still has not announced his touring support, so I’m throwing my hat 🎩 in the ring! I’ve been a huge fan of his music for a while now and I loved his show at @stereo_glasgow last year.

It would be a dream come true ✨🤩 to open for him at @oranmorglasgow in August. Here’s my cover of “Everything I Wanted”, largely inspired by his mate @officialwyattflores’ version seen on TikTok… 🤞

In just a week I’ll be sailing across to the Isle of Bute with my partner in crime @erinhephz_ 💕 to take part in @butefest!! She’s been a part of my music journey almost since I started and I’m so excited to share this adventure with her!! We’re both playing on the Sunday afternoon one after the other, so now you know what you need to do—grab a ticket, put on your cowboy boots and join us 🤠💃👢

Who’s all excited for @beluga_lagoon’s set at @hebcelt? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Here’s a wee cover of “On the Shore”, literally the first song I ever learnt to play at the guitar a few years ago… Still hits in the feels as strongly as it did back then! 🌊🌳🦉🐝

Well well well, the team at @lomondradio knows how to put on a show—whether it’s hail, rain or shine! ☔️🌈☀️

I had a blast playing my first (hopefully not the last!!) @lochlomondfestivals at @lochlomondshores yesterday, where I got to play a mix of covers and originals in French and English—including @lewiscapaldi’s newest release “Survive” (albeit a bit rough around the edges)—and meet some of the other cool acts of the day like @starry_skies_music and @evefrancesca 🫶💕

Thank you to the whole team at the radio for having me, to Greg Summers for being a fabulous host, to the stands around the stage for bringing the energy (come on, pig people!! 🐷🍔) and of course to everyone who braved the weather to come to the event—@katycoleman917_ you must be my biggest fan 🥹

Frying like bacon in the pan on the beach, eating my own weight in local delicacies and spending time with family and pets—(unexpected) summer holidays never looked so good 👙☀️🏖️

Being back home makes me want to sing in French 🇫🇷 I’m also very gutted I’m gonna miss @pierregarniermusique’s performance at the local @festidreuz near my parents’ house 😭

This weekend is bound to be a great one, with @lochlomondfestivals Summerfest at @lochlomondshores, and I’m absolutely thrilled to be a part of it! The kickoff is Saturday at 10am, and I’ll be playing a 45-minute set from 11am.

This is a 🌟 FREE 🌟 all-day festival in a beautiful location, with fun activities for the whole family—including live music 🎶 from local artists brought to you by @lomondradio, street food 🍔 and artisan stalls 🎨—so hop in your car, I’ll see you there 😘

Oh Bulgaria 🇧🇬 I got to know half of you half as well half as well as I should like, but at least it was in the stellar company of @f_rvr, @marknomiddlenamedonaldson, @martingarkov and @theo_rlb, on board of a fancy Chevrolet. It’s amazing what a week spent with close friends can do to your mental health—I’d almost forgotten what it felt like to be truly happy until I was reunited with these lots 💓

I don’t know what it is with the Balkans but I wanted to stay there forever—surrounded by mountains, eating feta cheese, drinking raki and dancing the night away, doesn’t sound like a bad life at all…

I felt a little bit like a forest fairy playing my fave @beluga_lagoon song in the Woodlands at @edenfestival 🧚🏻‍♀️🍄🍃 but do you know what would be truly MAGICAL? To be a support act for them on tour—I’ll keep praying until it happens 🙏

@edenfestival 2.0—what a weekend! From getting eaten alive by midges and dancing in the pouring rain, to meeting (finally…) Andrew and @mjhort321 from @beluga_lagoon, to spending quality time with @aoibhinnaye and @anthonymaddenguitar (@midnightpaintersmusic), to watching top-quality sets from @the.joyhotel and @theblackdenims, this was definitely one not to be missed! 🌳🦋🐌

Playing the Garden Bandstand today was a pinch-me moment as I played a cover of “Coping All On My Own”, one of the first songs I ever learnt to play at the guitar, to the very same people who play it on stage. Thank you to every passer-by who decided that my performance was good enough for them to stop and listen—one even said “sultry”—it’s the little things like these that make the effort all worth it.

2025 is my second year of pursuing my music dream, and I’m honestly amazed that I bumped into so many familiar faces over the weekend, all met through various Open Mics and Glasgow shenanigans, and by the support you all bring to me! Two festivals down, three more to go! 💃🪩🎊

Yayyyy I finally played my first proper gig in “Sunny Dundee” ☀️☔️🍃 (quite the understatement there)—turns out I just needed to relocate to Glasgow, learn to play the guitar, (re)meet @seanfindlaymusic… A piece of cake really 🍰

A massive thanks to @larathing for having me on the Sarah Buick stage, it was so much fun to be part of @lovewestfest—I don’t remember ever seeing that many dogs in my life 🐶🐕 (especially labradoodles and cockatoos, I still don’t know the difference). It was pretty cool to see kids dancing to my tunes (trying to steal my thunder like), and I defo enjoyed watching the finale set with @erinponsonbymusic (hem, not sure everything we witnessed was planned?!) 🤡🎪

@kb_a.la.mode I miss having you in Glasgow 🎀 but this weekend provided the best opportunity for a girly reunion with @faithbulle—see you next month 👯‍♀️

❥ On Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th June, I’ll be playing the Bandstand at @edenfestival—I had so much fun last year with @midnightpaintersmusic, I’m excited to be heading back there (and praying for a mud-free weekend…) 🤞
❥ When @lomondradio asked me to perform at @lochlomondfestivals Summerfest on Saturday 5th July, of course I said yes! 🐟⛵️
❥ On Sunday 27th July, I’ll be taking the stage at the iconic @butefest, joining a line-up of incredibly talented musicians for their “Wild West” 2025 edition 👩🏼‍🌾🌽
❥ And finally, I’ll head down to Ayrshire on Sunday 10th August for the second series of @freshayrfolkfest, which I’m also very excited about 🎻

It kinda feels like I’m embarking on a wild adventure for the weeks to come, and I’d love it if you were to join me for part or all of it! 💘🥰

At the time of booking this Albianian trip with @caravanhorseridingalbania (@equusjourneys), I was assaulted by intrusive thoughts—like whether I’d be able to manage a full week of horse-riding, whether I’d be able to be resourceful while solo traveling in a foreign place, or whether I’d be able to make friends.

Those doubts were quickly put to the side when I met my tribe—other adventure-seekers like me, born to live on the edge and test the limits of their abilities. We couldn’t have hoped for better guides than Kristina and Olti, who looked after us like we were part of their own families. As a woman myself, it was empowering to be led by a female guide as knowledgeable and passionate as Kristina—a serious business entrepreneur and an expertly skilled rider on rough terrain.

I don’t know what I expected, but I certainly didn’t expect to be swept away by the cultural heritage of the country. The landscapes we traveled through all carry in them the weight of the local history, which Kristina relayed to us as we passed significant landmarks.

I will remember Dori (“brown horse”) the rescue’s eagerness to please, who helped me win back a bit of that confidence lost long ago. I will also remember the innate sense of hospitality of the residents who welcomed us into their homes, cooked dinner for us with their fresh garden and farm produce (and raki!!), taught us some Albanian vernacular and showed us the dance moves they all learnt as kids.

A special shoutout to @cooking_with_lorii for sharing with us her secret recipes, to the house band at @hotel_kodra for letting me take the stage with them on our farewell night, and to @albionamucoimaj for topping off my stay with an unforgettable private walking tour of Tirana for my friend and I.

Now it’s back to work and back to reality, but in my mind I’m really just dancing to “Valle Treshe” and swimming in the Adriatic Sea. My body is covered in bruises, but surely the biggest bruise is on my heart, because this country left an indelible mark. I sincerely hope it’s not goodbye, but until next time—faleminderit ♥️🐴🤠🥃☀️⛰🌼🥾👙🏝⛺️🐸🐔🧀🐟

Are you traveling for work or leisure? I’d like to say « les deux, mon général ». This week, I ventured south of the Scottish border and set foot in Birmingham 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 for the very first time.

I was recommended @the_boldmere_tap’s Open Mic 🍻 on the outskirts of the city—and what a nice surprise this little pub was! After weeks of not being able to speak properly or sing due to a chest infection, I was ecstatic to take the stage again and perform to a crowd of attentive people who all had kind words to say to me at the end of the night. Special thanks to the host Nick Inett who let me borrow his fancy, lovely guitar 🎸 and to @nandini_xo05 for taking vids 🫶

Hopefully, it’s not goodbye but see you again—think myself, @gingerjackp and @mcavoy_mat have some unfinished business we need to deal with 🤓🤞

It was an absolute pleasure to open for @abigail__pryde at the @swg3glasgow Poetry Club! Blessed some Scottish sunshine, I was definitely feeling some—if rather ephemeral—early summer vibes reminiscent of the first lockdown 🌞🌸👒

I want to say a big thank you to @itsrossx (@xfirelive) for giving me a chance, to @nicktraill and Bob on the night for a seamless organisation, and to Jordan who learned all of 7 x original songs in the space of 2 weeks and played the hell out of them. And of course, to everyone who showed up on a school night—my “regulars” (love you always 🥰🫶) along with some lovely new faces. I truly enjoyed watching the other sets, and meeting @sineadtait, Abigail and her band was definitely the icing on the cake 🍰

As I said to the audience—I’m French by birth, Scottish by choice (I could even go as far as saying Australian by association), but my one and only true home is country music, and I feel lucky to have found it 🍀

I’m so so excited to be playing at @swg3glasgow on Thursday, it’s been a long time coming, and I cannot wait to open for @abigail__pryde. Can you spare a few quids to buy a ticket so I don’t look like a total a**? 👀

In just over a week, I’ll take the stage at the @swg3glasgow Poetry Club, accompanied by Jordan Berry on acoustic guitar and backing vocals! We first met at @onceuponatimeinthesouth (@therumshack), as he was just fresh off the boat from NZ 🇳🇿 and I was immediately gobsmacked by his performance and skills—so it’s a real pleasure to have him by my side for this event (@xfirelive) 🙏🎸🎶

Last night I played a live set on @lomondradio for “Tartan Tracks” and it was the most nerve-wracking and incredible experience! I thoroughly enjoyed chatting to Paul and Alan about my musical journey, where I take inspiration from, and what’s to come for these upcoming months. Their knowledge of the Glasgow music scene is second to none and I also learnt a lot from them. There’ll soon be recordings available on Facebook, YouTube and TikTok, so here’s hoping I didn’t say anything too compromising! 🥹

PS—I sort of wished I didn’t have three pints of cider and three cigarettes the night before, which probably didn’t help with the sore throat. On the plus side, the hair transformation was a success 🎀💇🏼‍♀️

Cannot get over how good this is and I won’t shut up about it—this collab between @country.night and @juliadigrazmusic is the perfect blend of charisma uniqueness nerve and talent 💅

Little ol’ me played @c2cglasgow (@c2cfestival) for the second year in a row at the @ovohydro this weekend—what a great honour to be invited to play at such an iconic venue. It’s been two years since my first Open Mic in Glasgow and some days I still have to pinch myself to remind myself how lucky I am that I get to do this. I’d like to say a big, MASSIVE thank you to @megatron_casio from DF Concerts (@gigsinscotland) for booking me (for real this time!), and to @chowhardman and Daniel for looking after me on the day, and giving me the chance to feel like a proper country superstar 👩🏼‍🌾🌾🌻

Highlights of the day include—sharing it with my lockdown buddy @perrettelg, playing songs I wrote on my couch / in my car [fill blank] to a crowd of people clapping, dancing and singing along, taking selfies with a stranger (is this what famous people do?), and of course witnessing @laineywilson’s headline set, a true masterclass in show-woman skills 💃✨

I can’t wait for tomorrow at @c2cglasgow (@c2cfestival) at the @ovohydro—it’s the day to turn into a proper cowgirl 🐮🌾🚜👩🏼‍🌾

IT�’S HAPPENING FOR REAL GUYS!! And this time round nobody had to pull out for me to get a spot! I’m **literally** ecstatic to be playing at @c2cglasgow (@c2cfestival) at the @ovohydro on the “C2C Acoustic Stage” on Sunday between 6-6:30pm—which leaves plenty of time to also catch the legend @laineywilson’s headline set, so make sure you pop by if you’re heading to the festival! 👩🏼‍🌾🎶💐

A mere nine years ago, I ran my first half marathon 🏃‍♀️ in Paris, taking the spot of a friend who’d injured herself. I thought I was going to die, but then I didn’t—I remember going to the movies straight after the race to see Bridget Jones 3 and feeling very smug about my performance 💃🎊

Since then, I’ve taken part in multiple races across France, New Zealand and Scotland, and in two months I’ll be running the Edinburgh half marathon (@edinburghmarathonfestival) alongside my sister @victoria_lmr. Running brings me joy, inner peace, and basically prevents me from killing people. For this race I need to raise money for @helpmusicians, and at this point in time I’m at a third of my target—will you help me reach my goals by donating to the cause? 🙌🤩

Ending February with a bang 💥 at @thebungalowpaisley—thanks heaps to @aldothelover for having me alongside @_._neeba.__ and @imeagerman for their Thursday sessions 🎶

I’m always in awe when my friends show up at my gigs—quite an international crowd yesterday with a Frenchie and a Canadian (and a Dundonian 🤪)—and even more when I see them lip-singing in the front row… And I finally debuted some new songs I’ve been sitting on since the start of the year 🎊✨
